What is Ojas? Ojas is an Ayurvedic word to describe long life, health, immunity, vigor, strength, and harmonic balance within the body. Ayurveda is based on one of the oldest holistic healing systems in the world. It is based on the belief that true health depends on a harmonic balance of the mind, body, and spirit.

We can repair and protect our ojas by following a balanced diet, according to our body’s needs, and keeping balance within all areas of our life (physical, mental, and emotional).

When we have balanced ojas within our body, we can have a strong immune system, energy, healthy libido levels, health and well-being within our body, heart, and mind, and a clear mind.

This recipe below is a wonderful way to maintain and/or rebuild your ojas. It can be very useful for individuals lacking energy, suffering with a chronic illness, lack of libido and/or stamina, insomnia, muscle wasting, or failure to thrive.

It is wonderful to make before bed for a restful sleep. You can also make it during the day for a lovely hot, creamy, sweet, and satisfying drink.


This is enough for an 8-12 oz mug

  • 3 Medjool Dates (pitted)
  • 10-12 soaked almonds (try to soak 8-12 hours in water before making this recipe if possible). Soaking nuts and seeds removes an enzyme inhibitor that coats seeds and nuts, which prevents proper digestion and absorption (do not use the soaking water).
  • 1 tsp ghee (clarified butter)
  • 1- ½ cup coconut milk
  • 10 peppercorns or ¼ tsp ground black pepper
  • ¼ tsp cumin
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ½ tsp cardamom
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ginger powder
  • ½ turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Ashwagandha root powder (optional-but adds a powerful aid to adrenal health and restoration)-order from www.banyanbotanicals.com

Place all ingredients in the blender on high for about 1-2 minutes or until well blended. Heat in a saucepan until warm or as hot as desired. Drink daily or 3-4 times per week for rejuvenation, immune support, and healing.
