Coconut Moisturizing Shampoo Recipe
This is a light moisturizing shampoo that gently cleanses and nourishes the hair and the best part, it is completely chemical free! Most shampoos today are loaded with chemicals, parabens, sulfates, and phthalates. I wanted to give you a shampoo recipe you could feel good about using and inexpensive to make. This is a shampoo that will give a light lather but not as much as a regular store- bought shampoo.
This recipe does not have any preservatives in it so it is best to use it within 2 weeks. If you want to make a larger batch and preserve it, place in ice cube trays and freeze. When you are ready to use, thaw 1 shampoo cube and then shampoo hair. 1 cube should be sufficient for 1 shampooing, depending on the length and thickness of your hair.
Recipe
1/8 cup cup full fat coconut milk (the coconut water and coconut cream portion in the can need to be thoroughly mixed together before using for this recipe)
3 TBSP pure aloe vera gel
2 TBSP honey
optional: 1 tsp Jojoba oil (use only for dry or chemically treated hair, omit this if you tend to have oily hair)
1 TBSP lemon juice
6 Tbsp Castile soap
8 drops Lavender essential oil
5 drops Rosemary essential oil
Mix all ingredients thoroughly together and place in a small container with a pump (if possible) for easy dispensing or rinse out and clean an empty shampoo bottle and use that as a dispenser.
Shake very well before each use, mixture can separate.
